Standard Bank's student fees initiative reaches R1 million milestone

Standard Bank's student fees crowd-funding initiative, Feenix is taking off. Jayshree Naidoo, Interim CEO at Feenix says that the initiative has reached the R1 million milestone.

Businesses and individuals have contributed to Feenix in order to help students aged between 16 and 24-years-old pay their fees. According to Naidoo the bulk of the money has come from hundred of individuals that have chosen to fully fund students.

We've reached the 1 million milestone. Well done to everyone in South Africa who contributed to this amazing initiative.

Feenix has 25 fully funded students and several others who have been partially covered. Naidoo expressed that more people need to step up to the plate, to help more students become fully funded.

Students interested in being funded can go to feenix.org to register their profile. Those wanting to contribute can go to the website, register as donors, choose a student and pay for their fees.
