Do's and don'ts when selling your home via Facebook

Julie Solomon, International Speaker and Top SA Realtor at Julie Solomon Property says Facebook is increasingly becoming a popular medium to advertise their homes using videos to entice potential buyers.

Solomon is adamant that the social media network doesn't pose that much of a threat to Sunday Show Days yet.

Selling a property requires a multi-pronged approached. You can't go fishing for all types of fish with just one line and one rod. You need to be able to use a net, you need to be able to use a spear.

A Facebook user, based in the United Kingdom used Facebook live to stream a tour of her home to users. Solomon says although the idea is genius she cautions against emulating this method because of South Africa's crime.

She says it is far better working with an estate agent as they serve as a buffer between who is brought into your home.

If you want to get the best possible price for your home, using a professional and experienced agent, is going to achieve that adds Solomon.

Something a seller doesn't think about is, in my photograph that I've taken of my home and posting on Facebook, have I showed the keypad where the alarm is? Am I showing my dressing room table where I put all my jewelry?

Solomon says a professional real estate broker will know these things and prevent highlight these on photos posted on social media.

Facebook is a real estate brokers friend says Solomon.
