September Tourism Month to include more tradition and culture

September is Tourism Month in South Africa and the campaign kicked off on Wednesday in Mpumalanga by Minister of Tourism, Thokozile Xasa.

She outlined her plan of action which her department has in place to make a successful campaign to the tourism sector in the country.

The tourism sector is one of the key growth sector of our economy. We are making it more exciting by ensuring we have more participation of the people.

Xasa says they are looking at developing new products which will be added to the existing markets.

She says they are now moving into townships and smaller towns, looking at tradition and culture to add to the usual safaris and other adventure products.

As part of the products that we are developing, we are looking at the entire value chain around those products so that we can look into what would be the supplies to make sure that more and more people participate.
