NEC decision to back Zuma 'ill-advised', says ANC MP Mondli Gungubele
ANC Member of Parliament (MP) Mondli Gungubele says the decisions taken by the party's national executive committee (NEC) regarding President Jacob Zuma are ill-advised.
He says that the NEC is a legitimate structure, but is making decisions that are not in line with what the organisation stands for.
He says all the information emerging around Zuma is simply too much to ignore.
Gungubele is part of a growing number of ANC MPs who have publicly called for Zuma to go.

We are allowing gross injustice to invade our organisation. We are not leading in manner consistent with the policy of the ANC.Mondli Gungubele, ANC MP
Gungubele maintains that the ANC is obligated to make Zuma account for his relationship with the Gupta family and state capture allegations leveled against him.
He says ANC MPs should not be concerned about whether to vote with the opposition or not, but rather they should concern themselves with what is best for the organisation.
He argues that there has been a lot of immaturity surrounding the decision to use a secret ballot in the motion of no confidence in Zuma on 8 August.
He adds that National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete must carefully consider whether or not to grant the secret vote.
Gungubele says some ANC MPs need protection in the face of increasing threats and intimidation.
Without a secret ballot, you might not get the most honest and free views from MPs. I for one, whether [the vote] is secret or not, have made my decisions.Mondli Gungubele, ANC MP
