amaBhungane on how Gupta tentacles allegedly ensnared Lynne Brown's inner circle

Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown has asked her personal assistant (PA) to resign over allegations that she had dealings with the Gupta family.

Her PA, partner and director-general are linked to questionable business decisions relating to the Guptas and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), according to investigative units Amabungane and Scorpio.

Amabungane's Craig McKune explains that SOEs Eskom, Transnet and Denel all report to Brown and have all been implicated in state capture allegations or suspect contracts that have benefited the Gupta family.

It's emerged that Brown's PA, Kim Davids, was not properly qualified for her role.

Davids was apparently involved in key board appointment at SOEs.

It seems likely Lynne Brown pulled some strings to get her into the job, in spite of advice from others that this woman was not good for the job. One might wonder why.

It's understood that Davids is the daughter of a woman who has been close to Brown during her political career.

By all accounts, she occupied a very powerful role n the ministry. She's a PA but our information is that she is managing the process of who gets appointed to boards.

Brown's PA was also pinned at The Oberoi Hotel in Dubai during 2015, where several other state officials and politicians are alleged to have had meetings with the Guptas.

At the same time, Brown's romantic partner, Ingrid Tufvesson, is a director in a company that has connections with the Gupta family.

The minister's Director-General Richard Seleke's CV was emailed to President Jacob Zuma's son, Duduzane, in 2015.
