Patriots for Equality says media has painted them as racists and it's "hogwash"

Anthony Phillips William, from Patriots for Equality, talks to Bongani Bingwa about the burning of tyres and blockading of roads in the Klipspruit area following the ongoing grievances about the appointment of a black principal to a local school.

Tensions mounted after complaints that the Klipspruit West Secondary School SGB did not follow proper processes when appointing a black principal in a predominantly coloured school.

When asked by Bingwa about his involvement in the burning of tyres, Anthony Phillips William said the following:

The community has been doing all of that 100% and I am 100% part of this community.

Anthony Phillips William, The Patriots for Equality

He denies, however, any involvement in the burning of the Putco bus and accused the media of having its own agenda. He says he wants to set the record straight.

702 is one of the people who have been punting us as racists consistently...and it is absolute hogwash.

We have sent out a communication to the Minister of Education, to the MEC of Education, and the heads of department including the DG on Monday...to say these are the grievances that the community is not happy with, can we have an urgent meeting so we can resolve this?

Anthony Phillips William, The Patriots for Equality

He insists their concerns were with the process of appointment and not the race of the principal.
