A lot of people are not holding their breath for a secret ballot - Brown

Parliamentary speaker Baleka Mbete is set to announce a decision on whether or not she will grant a secret ballot in a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Mbete is set to hold a media briefing in Parliament on Monday afternoon.

Political analyst Karima Brown says opposition parties aren't holding their breath and expect Mbete to declare an open vote for Tuesday's debate.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has indicated it will take Mbete to court should she fail to grant the secret ballot.

She is seen as a close Zuma ally, the President has expressed his own views on how the vote should go. He has been very clear he wants an open vote.

She is also aware that she has already been taken to the Constitutional Court and aware of the fact that opposition parties are going to look out for her decision one way or the other on a rationality base... I am not sure whether the speaker is keen to be taken back to court again.
