Co-founder of Uber Driver Movement, Theresa Munchik, says there is no indication whether the East Town incident is linked to the ongoing conflict between Uber and taxi meter drivers.

We have no proof or evidence of that at the moment.

She says the movement has appealed to Police Minister Fikile Mbalula to help curb attacks on e-hailing taxi drivers.

We have done a petition on change.org where we are appealing to the minister to take action on both meter taxi violence and on the hijackings, robberies at gun point non cash trips.
