SACP will not dictate to their members on how to vote #NoConfidence

Acting spokesperson of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Mhlekwa Nxumalo, says the party is in no position to dictate to their members which route to take when the voting of no confidence commences in Parliament onTuesday afternoon.

He says they will not be isolating members of the SACP from the collective decision made in the ANC's caucus ahead of the no confidence vote.

This does not however change our position. Today, yesterday, few months ago, we still reiterate our consistent call for President Jacob Zuma to resign... failing which we are still asking the ANC to do the right thing and recall the President

Mhlekwa Nxumalo, SACP Acting Spokesperson

But we are not in a position to join the opposition parties which have submitted the motion today in Parliament.

Nxumalo emphasises that the SACP's position is that it will be better for the country for President Jacob Zuma to leave office.

He said the reason for not joining opposition ranks is that it's no longer about removing Jacob Zuma but about removing the ANC from power, which differs with what the SACP wants.

Our position has been clear that we have an issue with President Zuma hence we've asked him to resign...

Mhlekwa Nxumalo, SACP Acting Spokesperson

If you listen to the news now - we are all saying Zuma must go but to them it's no longer about Zuma, it is about the ANC and that is where we differ with them.
