Zuma's fate poses difficult scenarios for ANC - Ralph Mathekga

The African National Congress (ANC) are in a vulnerable position, making their decision in the no confidence vote a lot more difficult, this is according to political analyst Ralph Mathekga.

Mathekga says he believes that the ANC are being presented with various scenarios regarding the vote and they have to decide which one they can live with. He added that the vote is very complicated for the ANC and opposition parties alike, particularly when it comes to the next step.

It's not just the ANC that finds itself in a difficult position, but the opposition as well.

Ralph Mathekga, Political Analyst

For Mathekga, the worst case scenario for the ANC is failure to reach consensus if Zuma is removed. This may result in an early election, which Mathekga believes, will be a hard knock for the party.

The problem with the ANC, according to Mathekga, is the fact that Zuma's personal problems become intertwined with the party, this has harmed the party in a big way. Mathekga says at this point, you can't deal with Zuma without hurting the ANC.

The reality is that the ANC are already hurting. The questions is, which scenario is the best for the ANC to manage? Is it the one where they get rid of President Jacob Zuma now and end up with a situation that is very unfitting. Or is it the one where they save him on the strict condition that they deal with him internally.
