Bridge collapse not a structural problem - report
Preliminary investigations suggest an earth tremor caused by mining activity in the early hours of Wednesday may have caused the N3 bridge collapse.
Five people were injured on the N3 highway in Germiston near the Geldenhuys Interchange.
Two people injured in the collapse have now been discharged from hospital while a third person remains in a critical condition.
Eyewitness News reporter Mia Lindeque has more on the story.
Preliminary investigations have shown that the bridge did not collapse because of any structural problems. At this moment it is not yet known what may have caused it but Sanral said to me that they think it is external factors.Mia Lindeque, EWN reporter
