[LISTEN] Stephen Grootes throws forward to ANC elective conference in December
African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) president, Bathabile Dlamini sparked outrage this past weekend when she defended deputy minister of higher education, Mduduzi Manana, saying there are others in the organisation that are worse than him.
Later on in the week, Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) made claims that Dlamini was referring to Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa. Ramaphosa's ex-wife Hope Ramaphosa told Eyewitness News that he never laid a hand on her during their marriage.
EWN senior reporter and 702 The Midday Report anchor, Stephen Grootes says Dlamini's credentials as a leader took a dip following her remarks. Grootes says the use of dirt is to be expected ahead of the ruling party's elective conference in December.
Grootes believes Ramaphosa was sincere in her defence against her ex husband.
I would be surprised if this is the last claim that's made.Stephen Grootes, EWN senior reporter and The Midday Report anchor
