Sisulu showing consistency with Hanekom defence - analyst

The ANC’s Lindiwe Sisulu and the South African Communist Party (SACP) have added their voice on the Derek Hanekom issue.

The SACP has criticised in the strongest words possible terms actions being taken to remove Hanekom from the ANC’s disciplinary committee.

Presidential hopeful Sisulu also accused the ANC of exercising selective judgement, targeting only some members for failing to tow the party line.

Political analyst Karima Brown says Sisulu has been consistent in raising the flag.

She has President Jacob Zuma in her sights. This is a message that’s been consistent since the time she’s declared her interest in becoming the president of the organisation.

Karima Brown, Political analyst

Remember at the policy conference, she was the first and only at the time member of the National Executive Committee outside of the ones that we know of… that said those ANC and Cabinet members who are found guilty in terms of the Guptaleaks should in fact be chucked out of the ANC.

Karima Brown, Political analyst

For her to come out this strongly, it is a continuation of this message that has now become a part of her rallying cry inside the organisation and part of her campaign message.

Karima Brown, Political analyst

There’s a realisation within the anti-Zuma forces, that a female leader in the top six is a necessity and not a luxury.

Karima Brown, Political analyst

She’s really beginning to strike a note there on the question around being consistent.
