"Angola's dos Santos is notorious for corruption and greed"

Angolans will be heading to the polls on Wednesday, an election that will mark the end of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos's 38-year reign.

Dos Santos has reportedly retired due to deteriorating health.

Peter Fabricious, a consultant at Institute for Security studies, says Dos Santos, through his 38 years reign is being credited for ending the war.

He says he is notorious around the world for corruption, greed and moving huge amounts of Angolan resources into his family's private bank account.

Dos Santos successor is said to be defence minister Joao Lourenco.

Some people believe he is not a bad person to lead a transition, whether he will or not is hard to say.

Peter Fabricious, Consultant at Institute for Security studies

He (Lourenco) hasn't got a bad reputation in Angola in terms of corruption...
