Dlamini-Zuma was chased away from the koppie at Marikana as she tried to lay a wreath to commentate the massacre of mineworkers.

On Tuesday, African National Congress (ANC) Presidential hopeful Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was chased away from the koppie at Marikana as she tried, together with members of the ANC Women's League, to lay a wreath to commentate the massacre of 34 mineworkers.

Political analyst and Talk at Nine anchor, Karima Brown says this isn't the first time Dlamini-Zuma received a hostile reception. Brown referred to Dlamini-Zuma's visit to the Eastern Cape when she met with King Mpendulo Sigcawu. where was told she isn't welcome at Marikana.

It was a very rude awakening.

A series of bilateral meetings are taking place between the Provincial Executive Committees of the ANC as backroom political channels begin to formalise the horse trading ahead of nominations process which opens in September. These lay the ground for the elective conference of the ANC in December.

Brown says these meetings are important as they serve as forums for ANC provincial leaders to hold talks on who they want inthe top six and National Executive Committee (NEC) positions within the party.

The problem I have with these bilateral meetings is that they presume that the provinces are united with the exception of Mpumalanga, Almost all of the ANC provincial structures are divided.
