Another Ford Kuga recall due to fire hazard

Owners of Ford Kugas have once again been issued with a recall. This is the third recall of the vehicle this year.

Mark Smyth, editor at Motor News says that this latest recall is to correct a fire risk that is unrelated to the original fire risk that saw a number of cars ignite.

Smyth says that people who have taken their Kugas in to fix the previous engine related fire risk will still have to take their cars in.

The issue now lies with a piece of insulation felt in the B pillar near the doors of the vehicle. This recall will effect around 7600 vehicles in SA that were built between 2012 and 2014.

In the event of a crash, there is a possibility that the sensor in the B pillar could get very hot and spark, igniting that insulation felt leading of couse to a fire.

Mark Smyth, editor at Motor News

There have been no reported incidents of fires in South Africa that was caused by this fault, according to Smyth. He says that the recall is a precautionary one that is happening worldwide.
