Mbeki addresses African leaders at 2017 African Leadership Forum

Former president Thabo Mbeki on Thursday addressed African leaders at this year’s African Leadership Forum in Boksburg on the East Rand.

EWN reporter, Pelani Phakgadi says Mbeki told the leaders in his opening remarks that the deliberations coming out of the forum over two days, should have meaningful outcomes.

Mbeki posed a question why countries which have natural resources have prolonged conflicts and who is benefiting from this?

Phakgadi says former deputy finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas will also be leading a panel discussion under the theme "Moving towards inclusiveness".

Former President of Tanzania, Benjamin Mkapa, is in the country for the first time to attend this forum which is hosted by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation.

Other issues to be discussed includes Africa's position in global peace and security architect.
