Self-taught Mitchells Plain pianist opens a music school

Pianist, Trevino Issacs started learning how to play a piano at the the age of nine.

His lessons started at church when he would go to church choir practice with his uncle and listen to music. From just listening to church songs he started playing the piano.

I didn't even know I had a gift I just started exploring more and more.

They gave me a platform to play choruses and hymns in church.

Issacs is now the principal at Mitchells Plain Music Academy, teaching children as young as seven years old about music.

He started teaching music to young children from his mother's living room and his first student was a boy who wanted to perform at the National Art Festival in Grahamstown.

In his music journey, he has worked with some of the iconic international and national musicians.
