Hashtag Lottering continues its successful run

If there is one comedian South Africans can call a veteran in the industry it is Marc Lottering. With his iconic afro and never ending enthusiasm, Lottering has made South African's laugh for years.

His latest show _Hashtag Lottering _is testament to this. Since opening last year, it has had a hugely successful run. It is currently on at the Pieter Toerien Main Theatre at Monte Casino. Lottering says the appeal of his show lies in its relatability.

The show came about because I always write about things that are going on in my life. My life is a lot like yours when it comes to Hashtag. This phone, this thing that I have in my hand, we cannot live without.

Marc Lottering, Comedian

Some of the topics covered in the show are the number of likes you get on Instagram, the dangers of the family Whatsapp group and the desperate need to check your phone first thing in the morning.

_Hashtag Lottering _is pure stand-up, but that is not to say that Lottering won't bring back some of his favourite characters from his old material in the future. He just needs them to be ready.

Those characters are very near and dear to my heart, but I also feel that I can't simply walk on stage and do a character, because it has to be there, and the character doesn't have something phenomenal to say. I have to work at making sure they have amazing things to say and that the time is right to bring them back.
