‘Bell Pottinger is losing contracts. And I don’t just mean in South Africa'

It could just be a slap on the wrist. It could, however, be removal from the industry umbrella group. That will be almost unthinkable for such a big player like Bell Pottinger.

Bell Pottinger could be stripped of its membership of the UK’s Public Relations and Communications Association.

The notorious PR firm stands accused of exploiting racial divisions in South Africa on behalf of the controversial Gupta family.

Bell Pottinger was involved in a speech by African National Congress Youth League’s Collen Maine in which he warns anyone who disrupts the State of the Nation Address to prepare for civil war.

Leaked emails show that Duduzane Zuma used Bell Pottinger to undermine the ANC’s communication on policies to the benefit of the Guptas.

Clement Manyathela (in for The Midday Report’s Stephen Grootes) interviewed UK correspondent Gavin Grey.

Bell Pottinger has five days to appeal.

A disciplinary sanction has been given to Bell Pottinger.

Gavin Grey

I cannot tell you how well revered Bell Pottinger has been in the UK. It has huge contracts internationally.

Gavin Grey

It’s already being reported that it’s losing contracts… and I don’t just mean in South Africa.

Gavin Grey

Companies don’t want to be associated with it [Bell Pottinger].
