Coffin assault victim calls for hefty sentence after duo found guilty

Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen have been found guilty of attempted murder and kidnapping.

Judgment in the so-called coffin case has been delivered in the High Court sitting in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, reports EWN's Pelane Phakgadi.

The case made headlines when cell phone footage showed two men threatening to pour petrol and set a coffin alight after their victim Rethabile Mlotshwa was placed inside.

Judge Sheila Mphahlele handed down judgment on Friday, saying she was satisfied with the arguments presented.

Jovial community members in the public gallery were addressed by Mlotshwa, who thanked them for their support.

Mlotshwa has also called for the judge to give the duo a hefty sentence, Phakgadi reports.

Sentencing proceedings are scheduled for the 3 October.
