Last year's Sage Small Business Award with CapeTalk winner Yoco.

CEO and co-founder Katlego Maphai says Yoco makes it really easy for small businesses to accept card payments.

We have two card readers that connect up to your phone. You download an app, Android or iOS and you simply able to accept card payments. We've made it very easy to sign up. It takes you ten minutes to sign up, on average two to three days to get to your doorstep and you start transacting.

We started off in Cape Town and moved to Johannesburg in 2013.

Maphai adds that during that year in Johannesburg, he spent the entire time trying to get permission to operate as a payment facilitator.

The company is self-funded he says, and later, after securing a licence and began building the physical product, he moved back to Cape Town.

We took the bold decision to test our product properly in the market.

It was only in October 2015 that we really launched the company and since then, it has been growing like crazy.
