"There are signs that the Zuma 'premier league' faction is breaking up"

Karima Brown, Political analyst and Talk at Nine anchor spoke about a Sunday Times report that suggests if African National Congress (ANC) presidential hopeful Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma wins she may ask President Jacob Zuma to step down from his presidency earlier.

Brown says this indicates that everyone in the ANC is beginning to make calculations about the 2019 elections.

People are realising that this bitter fight for control of the ANC will mean very little if indeed they are not in a position to contest elections to continue holding onto power says Brown.

There are apparently talks within the Zuma camp and indications that the so-called premier league is beginning to break up.

Brown adds that the Premier of Mpumalanga, DD Mabuza has already thrown his weight behind fellow presidential hopeful, deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Not only are people beginning to understand how expensive President Jacob is and that he is in fact an albatross around any faction that wants to win the 2019 elections but the actual campaign is beginning to fall apart.

Brown adds that President Zuma's legal woes are also coming to the forefront in September and are unlikely to roll over and go away despite his reputation as an artful dodger and delay tactics.
