Bassline still alive and kicking as an events company

Rhodé Marshall is a freelance culture and entertainment writer.

Legendary music venue, Bassline, closed, but not dead.

It first opened its doors back in 1994. That's a long run for a music venue. Bassline became the home of South African jazz.

The club might have closed its doors but in the local music industry Bassline as a venue - has an amazing historical significance. It contributed to the music fraternity by introducing audiences to new, unheard of, and many times edgy musicians.

Previously situated in Melville, in 2004 it moved to Newtown, hosting thousands of shows.

Since closing its doors, Bassline reconfigured as an events company, still hosting significant events at various venues around the city.
