Hedley Twidle's book 'Firepool' describes odd and beautiful anecdotes of SA life

Author Dr Hedley Twidle has published the book 'Firepool: Experiences In An Abnormal World', which chronicles South Africa amid its ‘second transition’.

'Firepool' is a collection of essays and creative non-fiction which reflect on the state of affairs and politics in the country .

Twidle is a writer, teacher and academic based at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Twidle says it was a very interesting process drawing together his range of new and old essays and seeing certain themes echoed through them.

It was strange moving from the short-form into a gallery and larger array of pieces.
