President Zuma can expect a DA grilling on SAA and Mduduzi Manana

The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s motion that Parliament be dissolved for fresh elections will be debated in the National Assembly on Tuesday. Their request came shortly after President Jacob Zuma survived his last motion of no confidence earlier in August.

Opposition parties, including the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Congress of the People (COPE) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have already said they won’t support the DA’s latest motion.

John Steenhuisen, DA Chief Whip says they are glad the motion has now been scheduled for debate in Parliament as it is a constitutional matter.

We won't be seeking a secret ballot, we don't believe it is necessary in this particular case.

Motions are not only about the numbers but are important mechanisms for parties to bring forward matters of debate says Steenhuisen.

President Zuma will be in Parliament on Thursday afternoon for a question and answer session. The DA says it will throw questions of South African Airways (SAA), Mduduzi Manana, gender violence and Zimbabwean first lady, Grace Mugabe's assault charges to the President.
