SABC board candidate interviews wrap up in Parliament

Parliament has been interviewing the final candidates for the new SABC board.

Four members of the interim SABC board have been shortlisted and are part of 36 candidates being interviewed for positions.

Two people out of the 36 have however been disqualified.

While one person was excused for personal reasons, candidate Micheal Bauer was disqualified because he is not a South African citizen despite being a permanent resident.

Friday marks the final round of interviews.

Eyewitness News reporter Rahima Essop has been following developments on the story.

The Broadcasting Act is very explicit, requiring that any board member be a South African citizen so they have about 34 people who have been shortlisted.
