My Seed of Greatness: An interactive series of books for kids and their parents

After his book A Teacher changed my life, Darren August decided to write another and this time it's dedicated to younger children, My seed of Greatness.

He spoke to Relebogile Mabitja, standing in for Phemelo Motene, about the book and its inspiration.

He says he was invited at the last minute to speak to a group of Gr R learners at a school in Mpumalanga, when he used an apple to relay the affirmation 'I have a seed of greatness'.

The book has now been developed into what he calls an interactive reading system.

I made myself a promise to do something for children, and I wrote a poem called 'My seed of greatness', had it illustrated months later and converted it into a book....

Darren August, author

My Seed of Greatness comes with a complimentary coloring and spelling book, allowing children to create their own stories, as well as an adult companion guide to encourage parents to read with their children.

August says books give one an opportunity to learn and grow.

What is great about books is that books live forever, it goes on and can be passed on from generation to generation and so we need to encourage reading.
