Africa Report: Odinga wants Kenya electoral commission to step down

Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga says he will not share power.

The Supreme Court on Friday annulled the August presidential election and ordered fresh polls within 60 days.

The court ruled that the election board had committed irregularities that rendered last month's vote invalid and overturned incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory.

Odinga insists the opposition will not participate in the rerun of the poll without changes to the electoral commission.

He [Odinga] is back on the campaign trail. On Sunday, he addressed churchgoers saying that he won't be sharing power with anyone but he also wants the electoral commission to step down and face criminal charges.

Uhuru Kenyatta is not happy but says he will respect the judgement. The issue now is what is going to happen? We know that there are calls for the UN to hold the election so that might be a possibility.
