Lynne Brown slams claims that Guptas opposed suspension of Matshela Koko

Public Enterprises minister, Lynne Brown has finally received her long-awaited Eskom report on the Trillian and McKinsey deal. The power utility was given a Thursday deadline but Brown later extended the deadline, saying she would like additional information.

Eskom's board met their extended deadline, giving the minister her requested report on Friday afternoon.

Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter, says at this stage, the media hasn't had sight of the report but says that the minister is seeking legal opinion before deciding what to do with it, or what action she will take.

Once the minister has her legal opinion, she will decide whether to make the report public or not.

Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter

I think there will be a lot of pressure from the public because there are several questions that need to be asked in terms of how Eskom conducted business with Trillian over a period of time.

Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter

Weekend reports also suggest that Minister Brown allegedly made a call to former Eskom board chairperson Ben Ngubane, six months ago, to withhold the suspension of suspended acting Eskom CEO Matshela Koko. This, because she had apparently received those orders from the Guptas, say reports.

(For) the Guptas, according to a source at the Sunday Times, Koko was their ears and eyes at Eskom.

Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter

According to Nicolaides, the minister has hit been back, dismissing the claims and adding that if the Sunday Times, is in possession of her phone records, they need to explain how they got their hands on them.
