Bell Pottinger's propaganda borders on treason - Karima Brown

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has slapped Bell Pottinger with the harshest possible penalty for a campaign commissioned by the Gupta-owned Oakbay Capital.

The body that regulates PR and Communications agencies in the UK, released its full finding on Monday night, lambasting the agency and accusing it of bringing the entire industry into disrepute.

The regulator has stripped Bell Pottinger of its membership and it will only be able to apply for membership again in five years’ time.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) lodged a formal complaint with the body in July accusing Bell Pottinger of deliberately fanning racial tensions in South Africa.

Political analyst Karima Brown explains the political significance of the ruling and the impact the agency has had on the country.

What we do know now is the attacks on people like Pravin Gordhan and many people who have in fact spoken out out against the corruption and the fake narrative that have come out from Mzwaneele Manyi and others has been orchestrated and choreographed and we all know this the work of this agency.

Karima Brown, political analyst

I think a lot of South Africans don't realise the import of the devastation of this.

Karima Brown, political analyst

This borders I would say on treason, t is the same as the conclusion that the academics came to with their betrayal of the promise report, that what state capture amounts to was in fact a silent coup and Bell Pottinger is responsible for the narrative of that coup.
