Lesotho hit hard by political violence

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) will be sending a ministerial mission on a fact-finding trip to Lesotho following the assassination of the country’s defence force chief, Lieutenant-General Khoantle Motsomotso.

President Jacob Zuma has condemned the killing of Motsomotso and called for calm in Lesotho.

EWN Africa correspondent, JJ Cornish says what is happening in Lesotho raises fears of political violence to some extent.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has headed up mediation with Lesotho, but will he be continuing with mediation in the midst of his presidential aspirations, asks Cornish.
