Mantashe's comments on state resources implies ANC has lost control - Mathekga

Responding on Tuesday to a question on how the African National Congress (ANC) planned to deal with those who use state resources for political battles, secretary-general Gwede Manatashe said the party has no direct authority over government to address the issue.

Speaking at a press briefing on the state of readiness for the party's national conference in December, Mantashe suggested there is no action the ruling party can take to stop the abuse of state resources.

Political analyst Ralph Mathekga says these comments are concerning and insincere.

The statement almost says the ANC has lost control, it has no recourse on the people that it actually employs to government.
