Kenny Kunene was not in Steve Motale's car during shooting incident - reporter

Reports streamed in on Tuesday evening that businessman Kenny Kunene was involved in a shooting incident.

According to reports, Kunene was driving in Norwood at the time of the incident on Tuesday night when his car was shot at several times.

Covering the story is senior EWN reporter, Barry Bateman.

He says Kunene told reporters he was at his office with a female friend as well as Sunday Independent Newspaper editor, Steve Motale when he needed to leave the office and suggested they use his friend's car because he had left his car keys in the office and offered to drive.

It was then, that Motale's bodyguard asked the Sunday Independent Newspaper editor to drive in another vehicle because it was thought female friends car was too small.

Barry Bateman, EWN senior reporter

Bateman reports that the vehicle Kunene drove was a BMW 1 series. While it was reported by a certain television news network that Kunene was in Motale's car, Bateman says he can confirm this is untrue because the car belonged to the female friend they were traveling with.

It was on the way back to his office, on Corlett drive, that a white SUV overtook Kunene and slammed on the brakes. Kunene says the gentleman got out the back of the vehicle and opened fire.

Kunene tried to reverse away but hit the pavement while the attackers then sped off says Bateman adding that Kunene then proceeded to make his way to a nearby gated community where he called the police.

Bateman adds that Kunene has enlisted the services of a private forensic investigator.
