Building a scaffolding and foaming company from the bottom up

Pretoria-based PEO Scaffolding & Formwork owner Harvey Marole says it's been tough going but the company is growing.

Nominee Harvey Marole says his company manufactures, sells and hires as well as erects and dismantles scaffolding and foamwork to construction, mining and petrochemical companies.

The core business is manufacturing scaffolding.

Two years back, my partner and I conducted market research and we identified a demand for scaffolding…

A feasibility study was then conducted and a bankable business plan was then developed.

The duo applied for funding from the Independent Development Corporation, which was approved based on viability and sustainability of the company.

It was very, very tough [to get going].

He says he and his business partner had to sell personal belongings earlier this year to contribute to the company.

The company currently has 21 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees.
