Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital is the newest Radio Lollipop station in the radio organisation which has an international volunteer network of 32 hospitals in 6 countries (England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa).

Radio Lollipop Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital is our newest Radio Lollipop station and the newest country in our international volunteer network of 32 hospitals in 6 countries (England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa).

Founder of Radio Lollipop, Hedley Finn, shares the mission of his volunteer organisation: therapeutic entertainment for the kids, by the kids, WITH the kids.

Radio Lollipop began in the 1970s in the UK.

Now, the little patients of the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital now receive care, comfort play and entertainment from Radio Lollipop volunteers while in hospital.

The magical thing we have done with Radio Lollipop is we have made it relevant to each and every child in the hospital.

Hedley Finn, founder Radio Lollipop

We have our own radio station in the hospital so the children can come to the studio and go on air...they can push buttons, put on headphones, make requests, be DJs, and talk to the other kids, parents and friends.
