Xolani Gwala to take time off

This morning, 702 announced its popular Breakfast Show host will be taking time off as a result of a medical challenge. In a recorded voice message, played by the station, Xolani gave a personal update on his absence.

In the clip Xolani thanks his audience for the many messages they have sent enquiring about his wellbeing. He explains that the team of medical experts who are working with him are still assessing him and exploring treatment options, and indicates that he will give an update on his condition when he and his family, as well as his medical advisors are ready to.

Xolani added that, “In the meantime, we ask please for your understanding and that you respect our family’s right to privacy in this most challenging time.”

We completely support Xolani and his family’s request for time and space, and we know that 702 listeners will share our heartfelt wishes for his speedy recovery.

702 Station Manager, Thabisile Mbete

The breakfast show will be hosted by Stephen Grootes until further notice.
