KZN ANC rejects claims that political killings all tied to party members

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has disputed suggestions that political killings in the province are all as a result of ANC members killing each other.

KZN ANC spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli questioned the use of the term 'political killings', in reference to the deaths of all ANC members in the province.

As the ANC, we do not share the sentiment which suggests that these are all political killings and are members of the ANC butchering each other every day. We don't agree with that sentiment.

Mdumiseni Ntuli, KwaZulu-Natal ANC spokesperson

I don't agree that comrades are killing other comrades.

The ANC provincial spokesperson maintains that the deductions about intra-party violence have not been proven by any investigation.

Our view is that we must not create our own version of truth. Let's conduct an investigation and be informed by a real basis that will be aloe to resolve the problem forever.

Mdumiseni Ntuli, KwaZulu-Natal ANC spokesperson

Ntulis says that the public should not jump to conclusions and make conclusive arguments that ANC members are killing other ANC members.

Meanwhile, SACP's KZN secretary Themba Mthembu says political killings are eating the tripartite alliance from within.

He says killings in the province are linked to self-enrichment, factionalism and a prevailing culture of violence.

What we need to resolve in KwaZulu-Natal is the culture of violence.

Themba Mthembu, KwaZulu-Natal SACP secretary

Mthembu confirmed that SACP and ANC members had been arrested in connection to murders in the region.

Take a listen to the dynamic discussion about the factors linked to political violence in KZN:
