Ramaphosa must up his game - Brown

While African National Congress (ANC) presidential candidate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has snubbed questions about her alleged redeployment to Parliament, political analyst Karima Brown says Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa may need to up his game.

The _Sunday Times _reported that President Jacob Zuma is planning a major Cabinet shake-up and that Dlamini-Zuma may be in line to take over the higher education portfolio.

Brown spoke to Stephen Grootes, standing in for Xolani Gwala, to answer questions around whether or not the President may move against Ramaphosa.

Th exit for President Jacob Zuma may be a lot messier with someone like Cyril Ramaphosa in charge of the African National Congress. If it is Nkosazan-Dlamini Zuma there is a sense that the transition might be smoother.

Karima Brown, political analyst and Talk At Nine host

I think it is a moot point, I think President Jacob Zuma exiting before his time is out in the state is an absolute necessity for the ANC no matter who takes over the leadership.

Karima Brown, political analyst and Talk At Nine host

He must now essentially just up his game and come out a lot clearer.
