After a gang shootout claimed the life of a 9-year-old Aqeel Davids in Ocean View on Saturday. This morning shootings erupted once more.

For Cathy Cronje of the Oceanview Comunity Police Forum. Cronje says that since the tragic shootout that occurred in the Davids home over the weekend, the violence has not stopped.

Friday night, Saturday night and this morning, there has been like gun fire raining.

There has always been underlying tensions and incidents of violence in Ocean View. Cronje says that that violence just seems to have peaked once more, especially after the events of the weekend.

Because of this, Cronje feels that nothing can be done to ensure the immediate threat of gunfire or violence in the area.

This weekend it's just peaked again. We've had a couple incidents, when there has been triple murders so unfortunately, it is nothing new for Ocean View.

Residents in the area are fearful and try to keep themselves as safe as they can. Yet the events surrounding Aqeel's death occurred in his home. Cronje says this has raised the level of fear in the community.

She says that the family was awake in the early hours of the morning as they were preparing for a wedding. Someone who was being chased, ran into the house, followed by those chasing him. Then they opened fire.

As it starts getting dark, or at five o'clock, everyone gets indoors so nothing happens to their families. But now its come into the home. I think there's a new lever of fear entirely now.
