Caller explains psychological effect of Manana bringing supporters to court
On Wednesday University students gathered at the Randburg Magistrate's Court, where former Deputy Higher Education Minister Mduduzi Manana appeared on assault charges.
Students from institutions including University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Fort Hare showed support for Manana, suggesting that he be rehabilitated.
Caller and clinical psychologist, Hayden says the presence of supporters shows no remorse and empathy for the victim.
In that way, we are seeing a lack of remorse which is an increased likelihood of re-offence and makes it harder to rehabilitate.Hayden. 702 caller
The act of bringing supporters - essentially is pressurising, to put forward your need. Now that particular type of behavior -if you are pressurising to exert your needs - that is in line with the train that we get in abuse.Hayden. 702 caller
He say this applies only if Manana was advised to bring supporters.
This is only if he actively chose to bring these supporters.Hayden, 702 caller
