The real expert of Lesotho is Cyril Ramaphosa - JJ Cornish

On Thursday, the Presidency announced that President Jacob Zuma will convene a Southern African Development Community (SADC) double troika summit in Pretoria on Friday following the recent political tensions in Lesotho.

The country's defence force chief lieutenant-general Khoantle Motsomotso was assassinated last week by a former army officer who had recently been fired.

Zuma will be joined by the presidents of Swaziland, Angola, Tanzania, and Namibia.

JJ Cornish, EWN Africa Correspondent tells The Midday Report stand-in host, Clement Manyathela that there SADC forces deployed in Lesotho but cannot confirm the numbers.

The summit is being led by President Zuma because he is the current chairman of SADC.
