Taxi Strike Cape Town: Buses torched, mayhem on the roads

The Cape Town taxi strike has caused complete mayhem on all the major highways, as protesters forced buses off the roads and intimidated passengers.

This is according to EWN Reporter Kevin Brandt who says those participating in the process do not want other modes of public transport on the roads.

Taxi's went all out, either trying to stop the flow of traffic or forcing other modes of transport like buses to get to the side of the road and forcing some of the commuters to disembark and find alternative forms of transport.

Brandt spoke to an affected commuter who desperately needs to get her child to a hospital. She was supposed to take her child to the hospital this morning for tests but is stranded due to the strike.

My child was supposed to be there before 10, but now I'm here. I don't even have money for an Uber. I'm stranded.
