Members of Parliament (MPs) are expecting that Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize brief them on the suspension of the department's Director-General (DG).
Mkuseli Apleni, who has been DG since 2010, has been placed on precautionary suspension, according to a one-line statement released on Monday.
Apleni is set to challenge his precautionary suspension, his lawyer has confirmed.
The Home Affairs ministry appears to be hiding behind a wall of silence, reports EWN's Rahima Essop.
The decision comes as a surprise to members of the Parliamentary oversight committee responsible for Home Affairs.
