Stephen Grootes weighs in on Tumi Morake's recent comments

Eric Barnard Meubels in Pretoria has pulled its advertising from Jacaranda FM over comments made by the station' breakfast show co-host Tumi Morake.

Morake was slammed for an analogy that angered some of the station's white listeners. An emotional Morake was speaking on the transition into democracy when she said that little was done to get retribution for black people after 1994.

According to reports, the company says it does not want to be associated with a station that "gets involved with politics and mix it with business".

Manager and director of the furniture store, Marius Barnard, confirmed to HuffPost SA that it informed the station of it's decision on Tuesday.

Considering South Africa's history and inequalities, Stephen Grootes says that there is still what he describes as economic apartheid.

It is obvious white people are still richer and almost all black people are still poor, it is called economic apartheid.

He suggests the furniture store is simply using it's economic power to bully Jacaranda FM.

I have to ask how is this not someone using their economic power to try and influence speech?

Stephen Grootes, 702 anchor and Eyewitness News reporter

The shop has the democratic right to do that but it's still wrong....Tumi Morake is speaking the truth.
