Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma sworn in as MP, mum on cabinet reshuffle

Nkosazana Dlamini–Zuma has declined to comment on speculation that her swearing-in as an MP is a preliminary move to prepare her for a Cabinet position.

Dlamini-Zuma was sworn in behind closed doors in the office of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli, on Thursday afternoon.

Eyewitness News reporter Gaye Davis has more on the story.

Playing it a bit coy, all she says she knows is that the ANC Chief Whip's office and the secretary general said she must come to Parliament and be an MP.

The fact that she has seniority in the party means it is highly unlikely that she is simply going to remain on the back bench.

It has been suggested that she might possibly replace Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande.

I think it is going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
