The Colour Run is an annual event hosted worldwide and this year Cape Town's Colour Run is scheduled for 18 November.
But with severe water shortages in the province and city, questions are being raised about the water needed for runner and clean-up after the event which sees bursts of coloured paint thrown en route.
In addition, Green Point Ratepayers Association Events Committee's Paige Nick says 13000 entrants will need to go home and wash the colour off themselves. She says research reveals it takes three washes to get the colour out of clothes.

She says the City of Cape Town has approved the event but the litres of water requested do not add up.

He says the organisers have offered to wash entrants clothing outside of city limits.
