Mashaba explains his reasons for reistating officials axed by ANC administration

A press release for the City of Joburg states that Mayor Herman Mashaba has reinstated axed internal audit manager at City Power, Vuyani Singonzo, despite advice from the City's lawyers not to do so.

EWN reporter Mia Lindeque says Mashaba defended his action, saying some firms ( Moodie and Robertson attorneys) are blatantly covering up for the ANC's corrupt officials.

He actually called on some whistleblowers who feel they have been unfairly dismissed by the ANC government to come forward he is going to open their cases and re-look at each and every case again.

Mia Lindeque, EWN reporter

Speaking to CapeTalk/702's Mandy Wiener, Joburg City Mayor, Herman Mashaba says Singozo'a matter was one of the cases which were brought to him for investigation when he took office.

If anyone is going to rely on the ANC's reports - R15 billion worth of corruption that I am investigating - people have been charged criminally by the Hawks and law enforcement agencies. These case would still be in the cupboards. No one doing anything about it.

Herman Mashaba, Joburg Mayor

Mashaba says Singozo's reinstatement came after an independent arbitration process whereby he realised that there are some officials who are doing everything in their power to sabotage his administration.

This is because I could realise that I am working with officials who are doing everything possible to get people like Singozo are not brought back into the City.

Herman Mashaba, Joburg Mayor

I want the residents of Johannesburg to know that I have people within my administration who are still doing everything possible to represent the ANC than represent the city of Johannesburg.
