Mabuyane's win could be a big boost for Ramaphosa - Brown

Despite the violent disruptions that took place during the African National Congress (ANC) Eastern Cape Elective Conference at the weekend, Oscar Mabuyane was successful in his bid to be elected as the new provincial chairperson.

Several delegates were left injured many of whom had to be hospitalized after a brawl broke out on the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mabuyane won with 935 votes as opposed to the 7 votes for the incumbent chair Phumulo Masualle.

Political analyst Karima Brown gives her take on what this means for the ANC's Presidential race.

Given the fact that the race is so closely contested the fact that the Eastern Cape elective conference chose this leadership that align themselves so out rightly with Cyril Rampahosa, it could be seen as a boost.
