Lindiwe Sisulu outlines why she should become next president

Presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu has opened up about corruption, the ANC and her presidential race.

Sisulu was talking to Karima Brown during Talk Radio 702's town hall on Wednesday night.

Asked why she should become the next ANC and South African president she said:

I am standing because I have realized that we are about to repeat what we had in Polokwane. Factions within the ANC visible and it is not good. I bring along a wealth of experience of working in the ANC. I have been in government since 1996. I want people to trust me.

Presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu

A question on where she gets her money from and if she is linked to any business interests?

No one is providing me with money. Volunteers working for free, family and friends have offered to pay, everyone in campaign has deep seated commitment. The cancer of money is what drives people to corruption. As long as people are prostituting themselves to get money within the ANC…

Presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu

The land issue? People want the land back.

The presidential hopeful says it has taken government a long time to give the land back to its people “Because the deeds office has a backlog of I don’t know how long. The state doesn’t own more than 16% of land.”

How do you plan to reconcile the ANC?

I am all for unity; it’s not going to be unity at all costs, we are not going to grab them by their throats. We want to retain unity so that by the time we hand over the party to young people, that it has overcome factions. We must overcome factionalism to avoid killing each other.

Presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu

What kind of people do you want in your team?
